Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma visited the temple in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, for prayers. He described the trip as a divine experience. The visit left him feeling full of devotion. He wants to return to the religious site soon.
Sarma told reporters, "It is a very divine experience. After the darshan, the mind becomes filled with devotion. We feel like coming here again and again."
The Chief Minister took a sharp turn toward national politics. He addressed criticism directed at the BJP for using the name of Lord Ram during election cycles. Sarma argued that if the opposition condemns his party for referencing Hindu deities, those same critics should embrace historical figures like Babur instead of complaining.
He challenged the opposition directly. "Whenever Babur is in the world, Ram, Lakshman, and Hanuman will always be there too. You cannot deny this. If we contest elections in the name of Lord Ram, then you also contest elections in the name of Babur," Sarma said. He maintained that the opposition must choose a side, stating that if they take issue with the BJP invoking Lord Ram, they should stop referencing Babur entirely.
