Agartala: The Agricultural Graduates Association of Tripura donated 3 lakh rupees to support Manashree, a young girl fighting the rare genetic disorder known as Spinal Muscular Atrophy. Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath oversaw the cheque handover to the child's father. This act signals a shift from rigid policy to direct community support.
Nath pushed his staff to give voluntarily. He noted the high price of SMA treatment makes public backing a requirement. "This gesture proves that the Agriculture Department is not just an institution of policy, but a family that stands together in times of crisis," Nath said. He has also made a personal donation to the cause.
The effort involves several high-level figures. Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha and former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb have already provided aid. The state now seeks a repeat of the unity seen during the COVID-19 pandemic and past floods. Nath asked the public to pitch in, stating that every donation serves as a candle of hope for the child's recovery.
