Travel Warning Issued for National Highway 2 in Kohima

Kohima: Kohima district authorities issued a formal travel advisory on Friday for the Kohima-Mao stretch of National Highway 2. Constant rockfall and debris from steep slopes threaten the Phesama Sinking Zone. The trouble centers on the road between Chainage Km 191+840 and Km 192+100.

District Magistrate B Henok Buchem ordered motorists to stay alert. He urged commuters to skip non-essential trips whenever heavy rain hits the region. Officials explicitly discouraged using the route after dark. "Motorists have been advised to exercise maximum caution while passing through the affected stretch," the advisory stated.
