Kohima: Tourism and Higher Education Minister Temjen Imna Along urged students and educators to embrace the National Education Policy 2020 to drive societal change. Speaking at the Institutional Excellence Award 2026 event in Dimapur, he warned that rapid developments in artificial intelligence and robotics are poised to reshape the global job market. He stated that education must move beyond reform to become transformative, enabling individuals to create meaningful impact in society.
Addressing the audience at the Town Hall, the minister emphasized that educators should look beyond traditional classroom instruction and engage in community development to support the vision of a developed India by 2047. The event, organized by the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya, also celebrated high-achieving students from the NBSE HSSLC examinations.
USTM Chancellor Mahbubul Hoque highlighted the university's commitment to strengthening academic ties with Nagaland. He announced new fellowship and scholarship programs for meritorious students and invited local institutions to partner with USTM for knowledge exchanges. The university aims to support talented youth who lack access to resources for competitive exams.
Top rank holders across Science, Arts, and Commerce streams received cash prizes, certificates, and mementos during the ceremony. The event also honored institutions for academic excellence, including St. John College and Unity College in Dimapur. The program featured insights on career opportunities under the NEP 2020 from various academic leaders, including North East Christian University Vice Chancellor Prof. Darlando T. Khathing.
