Itanagar: The All Sagalee Students Union launched a 24-hour bandh in Sagalee today. This strike hits the Papum Pare district hard. The union is fed up. They want immediate government action regarding local health, education, administration, and infrastructure.
Students are also pushing for better banking, land protection, and environmental conservation. They want authorities to fix existing government facilities and strengthen public services across the constituency. The protest aims to force officials to acknowledge long-standing local grievances.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner of Sagalee and local police tried to stop it. They asked the union to withdraw the strike citing public interest, but the organizers refused to back down. The town remains locked tight.
Commuters heading between Itanagar and areas like Seppa or Pakke Kessang must find other paths. The union said the action is needed as it "presses the authorities to address its demands" for the area. Normal public services and travel in Sagalee have ground to a halt.
