Kohima: The North East Students' Organization and the Dimapur Naga Students' Union slammed the government on Friday. Both groups condemned the July 20 crackdown on students in New Delhi. The unions labeled the crackdown an assault on democratic rights. They described the police response to peaceful assembly as excessive. The students protested against recurring leaks in competitive exam papers. They also demanded better integrity in recruitment processes. The DNSU stated the response was "regrettable and unjustifiable" rather than open dialogue.
Authorities must prioritize safety. The unions called for meaningful communication to address grievances. They urged the Centre to stop using intimidation against the youth. Both organizations stood in solidarity with those injured during the chaos. They want systemic reforms to ensure fairness and transparency in future testing.
