South West Garo Hills Mandates Private Bore Well Registration

Shillong: South West Garo Hills residents must register their bore wells and tube wells immediately. The District Level Committee on Ground Water Resource issued the order this July 27 in Ampati. Owners must submit all required paperwork to the office of the Executive Engineer for Water Resources. The mandate covers both private individuals and public institutions.

Officials want to track groundwater development across the district. This move aims to ensure scientific management and sustainable use of local water supplies. Registration is mandatory. "The District Level Committee has made it clear that registration is compulsory for all concerned."

Do not ignore this order. Failure to register will trigger legal action under the relevant provisions of law.
