Sikkim Governor Directs New Police Officers to Tackle Cybercrime and Drugs

Gangtok: Sikkim Governor O.P. Mathur issued a clear mandate to the 2024 batch of Deputy Superintendents of Police on Monday, September 21. He met the new officers at Lok Bhavan to discuss their role in protecting the state. They talked. The Governor pushed them to keep Sikkim safe and peaceful.

Mathur told the group their main job is to build trust and security among the public. He demanded action plans to combat the rise of cybercrime and narcotics. The state needs to embrace modern technology to fight these shifting criminal trends. Officers must stay sharp. Constant study of new laws remains mandatory for the force.

Physical and mental toughness will define their success. The Governor said the primary objective of the police should be to "instil a sense of security and trust among people while preserving Sikkim’s identity as a friendly and peaceful State." He expects these officers to stay ahead of the curve as crime evolves in the region.
