Sikkim Expands Court Access with New Namchi Facility

Gangtok: Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang opened a new Additional Court for the District and Sessions Judge at Namchi on Monday, September 21. He performed the ceremony alongside Sikkim High Court Chief Justice A Muhamed Mustaque. The state wants to fix its judicial infrastructure. Courts will now reach rural spots.

Tamang stated that putting courts in subdivisions stops people from traveling long distances to handle legal matters. An efficient system builds public trust. It ensures rights remain protected while delivering timely results. "Access to justice is an integral part of good governance," Tamang said.

The government recently implemented institutional reforms under Rule 4/4. This change prioritizes eligible Sikkimese candidates for court appointments. Tamang noted that creating new districts in Soreng and Pakyong helps move essential services and administration closer to the local population. He praised the Chief Justice for providing cooperation and guidance. The administration remains focused on inclusive development and responsive, people-centric governance throughout the state.
