Severe Floods Paralyze Kharsang in Arunachal Pradesh

Itanagar: Relentless rain hit the Kharsang Circle of Miao subdivision in Arunachal Pradesh over several days. The Noa-Dehing and Buri Dihing rivers surged past their danger marks. Floodwaters swallowed homes and ruined farmland. The deluge paralyzed normal life across the Changlang district.

Kharsang is the worst-hit zone. Hundreds of families face deep uncertainty as water cuts off local transport. Villages including Ongman, Jengpathar, Kharsang, and areas under Namchik remain submerged. Residents cannot move because roads are under water.

Farmers fear their crops are gone. The economy relies on these fields. The fragile Makantong Bridge, which provides the only link between Kharsang and Bordumsa, faces fresh peril. The Buri Dihing River continues to batter the foundations of the structure after it sustained extensive damage during last year's floods. Residents describe the situation as a crisis, noting that as water levels rise, "anxiety continues to grip the affected communities."

Overflowing water from the Maithong Nala compounded the misery in Namphai-I and Namphai-II. Movement is nearly impossible. Markets are cut off. Villagers worry about food security as the rain shows no sign of stopping.
