Agartala: Security forces in Tripura seized nearly 9,500 Yaba tablets valued at Rs 50 lakh during a coordinated operation near the India-Bangladesh border on Saturday. The seizure occurred in the Raghna international border area after BSF personnel from the 97 Battalion received intelligence about narcotics hidden near the border fence.
Acting on the tip, officers from the Dharmanagar police station joined BSF troops to conduct a search near the Raghna Integrated Check Post. The team discovered 48 packets containing a total of 9,427 tablets. Officials believe the smugglers left the stash behind and fled the scene upon noticing security activity in the area.
Authorities have handed the confiscated contraband to the Dharmanagar police to begin legal proceedings. According to official reports, "The seized narcotics are estimated to be worth around Rs 50 lakh in the illegal market." While no arrests have been made, investigators are currently working to identify the network behind the attempted smuggling. Security remains high in the region as the joint investigation continues.
