Imphal: The Rapid Action Force and the Commando Battalion for Resolute Action, known as CoBRA, hit the ground in Noney district today. They moved into strategic and vulnerable spots along National Highway-37. Security teams are now tightening their grip on the vital Imphal-Jiribam route.
This mobilization follows the United Naga Council starting an indefinite economic blockade at 1 am on September 9. The group is demanding justice for the killing, mutilation, and dismemberment of six Liangmai Naga men that occurred on May 13. The standoff continues to disrupt the flow of vehicles across the region.
Officials are tracking rising concerns regarding the shipment of essential goods. The council stated, "The UNC has exempted vehicles carrying essential services, including medical supplies, media personnel, power, water and telecommunications, from the blockade." Heavy surveillance remains in place as the standoff impacts daily transport.
