Guwahati: Northeast Frontier Railway agents rescued 11 children from trains and stations over three days in July. The Railway Protection Force stepped up its surveillance to stop child trafficking. The mission ran from July 18 to July 20. Personnel moved the children to Child Welfare Committees and local help units for care.
Operations kicked off July 18 at New Alipurduar Railway Station where officials recovered a 12-year-old boy. The pace quickened on July 19. RPF staff pulled four girls from Train 22504 at New Bongaigaon. Meanwhile, a team at Kishanganj found a 10-year-old boy on Train 15910. Another 14-year-old girl turned up at Katihar Railway Station, and a girl on Train 12505 was secured with local police help. One 18-year-old man reunited with his father during these rounds.
The work finished on July 20. Teams grabbed a 13-year-old girl from Train 75724 at Goalpara and a 16-year-old girl at Kamakhya Railway Station with NGO support. The railway recently confirmed the scale of its work during the first half of the year. The Northeast Frontier Railway stated that the RPF rescued a total of 430 persons between January and June 2026.
Agents continue to collaborate with local authorities to protect minors. They prioritize rehabilitation and reuniting children with their families. These efforts aim to stop exploitation across the rail network.
