Kohima: Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav pushed for stronger ties between the states on November 1. He hosted a joint celebration at Lok Bhavan in Kohima for the foundation days of Andhra Pradesh, Keralam, Punjab, and Tamil Nadu. The event operated under the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat initiative.
Yadav spoke to the crowd about national unity. He urged citizens to look past differences. "The essence of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat lies in knowing one another better, appreciating our differences, celebrating our shared heritage and strengthening the bonds that unite us as Indians," he said. The Governor praised the four states for their major roles in agriculture, industry, technology, and education.
He highlighted specific contributions from each region. He cited Andhra Pradesh for Kuchipudi dance, Keralam for Kathakali, Punjab for its legacy of courage, and Tamil Nadu for its ancient language and Carnatic music. He noted that Nagaland also brings its own traditions of distinct songs, attire, and festivals to the table.
Officials provided specific insights during the event. Secretary of the Nagaland Telugu Samaj Sankar Surada discussed Andhra Pradesh. Vice President of Malayali Samajam Kohima Shaji K represented Keralam. Harjinder Pal Singh Ahluwalia, president of the Gurudwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, spoke for Punjab. Nellayappan B, OSD to the Chief Minister of Nagaland, handled the presentation for Tamil Nadu.
Yadav told the youth to travel and swap ideas. He argued that these interactions kill off stereotypes. The Governor plans to keep using Lok Bhavan as a venue for dialogue. He believes this builds a tighter country.
