Police Seize Massive Illegal Liquor Haul in Cachar

Guwahati: Dholai Police stopped a truck in Cachar district on Tuesday. They acted on a tip-off. Officers intercepted the goods-laden vehicle at 2 pm as it moved from Goalpara toward Mizoram. They found over 100 cartons of foreign liquor hidden inside the cargo.

The stash included Kingfisher, McDowell's, Signature, Blenders Pride, and Royal Stag. Police arrested the driver, Kripamoy Rabha, who is the son of Ramakanta Rabha. He remains in custody at Dholai Police Station along with the seized truck and the alcohol.

Investigators are now working to identify the origin of the shipment and the intended recipients in Mizoram. Authorities are also checking for ties to a larger interstate trafficking network. Police stated, "The exact quantity of the seized liquor and its estimated market value were being assessed." Officials have registered a case and are currently questioning the suspect to expose the rest of the smuggling ring.
