Guwahati: Police rescued three women from a prostitution racket in Siliguri, West Bengal. A joint operation between Assam and West Bengal authorities secured the victims on Friday, July 17. The group includes one minor.

Sonitpur Senior Superintendent of Police Barun Purkayastha confirmed one victim hails from the Sonitpur district. The other two women come from neighboring districts. Traffickers lured the victims with false job promises before dragging them to West Bengal for exploitation.

"The rescue operation was carried out with the assistance of the West Bengal Police. The victims have been brought back safely," Purkayastha said. Authorities are now tracking the human trafficking network to make arrests.

The investigation remains active. Officers are checking if the syndicate trafficked other individuals or if more suspects helped operate the ring. Police maintain the hunt for the culprits.
