Guwahati Police Suspend Two Officers for Misconduct

Guwahati: Two police officers from the Noonmati Police Station are off the job. The Deputy Commissioner of Police for the Central Guwahati Police District suspended them on September 1. They face allegations of serious misconduct while working a naka checkpoint on August 31.

The suspended men are Sub-Inspector Dharam Raj Mishra and UBC 655 Sanjit Boro. Authorities claim their behavior brought disrespect to the department. The official order stated the action was necessary as the "alleged misconduct was of a serious nature and had brought disrespect to the police department."

Mishra and Boro must now report to the Police Reserve at the Guwahati Police Commissionerate. They will receive a standard subsistence allowance while the investigation continues. The department sent copies of the suspension order to the DCP of Administration, the Additional DCP of Central, various Assistant Commissioners, and the Noonmati station chief.
