Kohima: Deputy Commissioner Arikumba inspected landslide damage along National Highway 202 on Friday. He brought officials from the district administration, national highways department, and the District Disaster Management Authority to survey the wreckage. The team checked road conditions, drainage systems, and slope stability after recent downpours battered the area. Arikumba told agencies to fix the road now. He pushed for better teamwork between departments to clear debris and keep traffic moving.
Meanwhile, the PWD (NH) Tuli division cleared National Highway 02 between Tuli and Merangkong on July 23. Heavy rains caused major headaches in Mokokchung district. Workers moved quickly to reopen the route. A DIPR report noted that "machinery and personnel have been deployed to clear debris, and restoration efforts are progressing swiftly to reopen the affected stretch at the earliest." Crews remain on the ground to restore normal traffic flow.
