Kohima: The Noklak District Planning and Development Board approved the 2026-27 Local Area Development Programme schemes for the 56 Noklak and 57 Thonoknyu constituencies. The board held this meeting on July 13 at the SP Conference Hall. MLA and Chairman Benei M Lamthio led the session. He voiced worry about local government school performance. He stressed that members must "work collectively towards the smooth and rapid development of the district."
The board backed the opening of a new private school in Chiphur village. Tsoiphu Baptist Church proposed the facility, which will be called Baptist School Chiphur. Officials sent this recommendation to the state government for final approval. The district also moved to open the finished Economics and Statistics Department office. This facility will handle birth and death certificates once the government provides enough staff.
Deputy Commissioner and Vice Chairman P Mono Khiamniungan reviewed past meeting minutes. Newly appointed officers including Additional Deputy Commissioner Ralise Sangtam, Extra Assistant Commissioner Puhan Khiamniungan, and Divisional Forest Officer Nzanthung introduced themselves to the board. The Sericulture Department presented updates on their recent work. The Social Welfare Department will lead the next presentation.
