Agartala: A new distribution transformer manufacturing unit opened its doors at the Bodhjungnagar industrial area. The facility represents a 5 crore rupee investment. It stands as the first project to launch following the Destination Tripura Business Conclave held last month.

Pratik Majumder, representing the Kolkata based Electro Trans Industries, credited the state for the fast turnaround. Work moved quickly. The company signed a Memorandum of Understanding just 20 days ago.

"It is because of the extremely affirmative policies of the state government that a manufacturing unit which was conceptualised just 20 days ago through an Memorandum of Understanding saw the light of dawn today. This unit will manufacture distribution transformers which are considered to be a very critical asset," said Majumder. He praised Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha for the government's investment push.

Officials from the Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited noted that the site addresses a major supply gap. The state previously sourced these parts from outside vendors. Now, production happens locally. This move secures the supply chain while creating jobs for the local workforce. Workers will gain specialized skills to build and maintain the power equipment.
