Kohima: Noklak Deputy Commissioner P Mono Khiamniungan inaugurated a new classroom at Government Middle School in New Pangsha on August 4. He simultaneously launched the Rural Education Mission to upgrade local learning conditions. Education in rural zones remains foundational. The community is taking responsibility to fix that.
Head Teacher M. Hanga started the mission in 2026. The program targets home and school learning through active community participation. It supplies furniture, study materials, and solar lamps for homes lacking power. The project also features tuition classes, exposure trips, and student awards. Hanga addressed the crowd by reciting his poem, "O My World, Reclaim Me," which explores the struggles of those with few resources.
Khiamniungan pushed for better infrastructure and parent involvement. He urged families to use local schools. He also pressed churches and Anganwadi workers to prioritize early childhood care. Area Education Officer B Ngon praised the village for its grit despite facing major frontier challenges. The All Pangsha Students' Union asked the School Education Department to shuffle teachers to bolster services. Parents must keep children local rather than sending them away for school.
