NEISSR Marks Xavier Board Week with Community Service Focus

Kohima: The North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research in Chümoukedima marked Xavier Board Week 2026 from September 7 to 13. Students celebrated the 75-year legacy of the organization. They operated under the theme of Learning Through Service, Serving Through Learning.

Trainees tackled a massive agenda. They led essay writing contests, tree planting, and sessions on value-based educational leadership. The schedule also included candlelight remembrance services, community health and nutrition workshops, school counseling, childcare support, and palliative care initiatives. Rural outreach programs and social entrepreneurship training rounded out the event.

The group fanned out across the region. They worked with local schools, villages, health centers, and rehabilitation facilities. These interactions offered the students practical experience in environmental sustainability, public health, and child protection. According to a NEISSR release, the week sought to connect academic learning with service and "reinforce the institute's focus on professional formation, community engagement and responsible social work practice."

Participants sharpened their professional toolkit. They practiced empathy, active listening, teamwork, and confidentiality. These social work values remain the core of their training.
