Guwahati: Nagaon police hauled in 100 litres of illicit country liquor during a raid in Nonoi. Officers intercepted a tempo carrying the contraband during an operation led by Tarali Bora, the officer-in-charge of the Nonoi Police Outpost. They stopped the vehicle while it was in transit.

The force did not let the booze reach the market. They carted the seized liquid to Badalgaon and destroyed it in public view. Local residents backed the police move, cheering the ongoing crackdown against illegal trade in the region.

Bora made the department's stance clear following the bust. "The transportation and sale of illicit liquor in the area would not be tolerated and that Nonoi Police would continue such operations in the coming days," she said.
