Kohima: Four research scholars from Nagaland University recently represented their institution at the 13th World Bank Group Youth Summit. Held in Washington, D.C., with a significant virtual component on June 11 and 12, the event centered on the theme FutureWorks: Designing Jobs for the Digital Age.
The Nagaland University team included Swarnanjali Ghosh, Manisha Senapati, Anish Sunwar, and Kezevinuo Nguzhu from the Department of Rural Development and Planning. These students secured their spots after a competitive selection process based on their academic backgrounds. They joined global innovators, policymakers, and entrepreneurs to address critical shifts in education, skills, and entrepreneurship.
Prof. Jayanta Choudhury, head of the Department of Rural Development and Planning, noted that the summit offers students vital exposure to international development issues. He stated that such experiences strengthen researchers' capacity to contribute to evidence-based policy and practice at local, national, and international levels.
Participant Anish Sunwar described the event as an insightful platform, noting that the experience provided valuable perspectives on innovation and digital employment. Fellow scholars Swarnanjali Ghosh and Kezevinuo Nguzhu highlighted how the summit emphasized entrepreneurship as a key driver for economic growth in Nagaland. By focusing on digital skills, the scholars aim to foster new livelihood opportunities and support sustainable development across the state.
