Kohima: Nagaland officials selected 750 small businesses for a six-month mentorship push. The plan aims to scale these companies under the Naturally Nagaland banner. This initiative pushes products made within the state to national and international markets. Hekani Jakhalu, Adviser for Industries and Commerce, confirmed the move at Wednesday's Entrepreneur Award 2025 ceremony in Kohima.
Nine local business owners took home awards for their work. Jakhalu wants these entrepreneurs to grow beyond local borders. She told the crowd to delegate tasks and avoid burnout. She warned against the founder's trap, a state where owners micromanage every detail and fail to grow. "Continuous learning is essential for growth," Jakhalu said.
The department uses the RAMP program to drive this effort. They held workshops in villages to spark interest. Winners included Pisala Sangtam of Forever Handmade 21, S. Khumo of Art and Craft Unit, and Liyingbeni Odyuo of Liying Clothing. Vitoli Achumi, Imtisunup Longchar, Ajung Yaden, Atem Longkumer, Supongtola Aier, and Alem Konyak also received honors.
