Nagaland Power Department Bids Farewell to Chief Engineer Kasho Chishi

Kohima: The Department of Power in Nagaland held a farewell ceremony on Friday for Er. Kasho Chishi, the retiring Chief Engineer for Transmission and Generation. The event, hosted at the Electricity House in Kohima, brought together colleagues and family to honor his career of nearly 34 years.

Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Dr. K.D. Vizo, praised Chishi as a highly capable officer and noted that his departure leaves a significant gap in the department. Engineer-in-Chief Er. Wabangmeren Jamir credited Chishi for his role in expanding the state's power transmission infrastructure, highlighting his perseverance and dedication to the sector.

Reflecting on his tenure, Chishi shared that he joined the department at age 26 and found the experience transformative. He emphasized that the department holds heavy responsibilities in balancing technical and commercial needs, urging current staff to prioritize discipline and sincerity in their work. His contributions included significant efforts toward the computerization of the Kohima Electrical Division.

President of the Association of Power Engineers Nagaland, Er. Mhonlumo Kikon, acknowledged Chishi’s leadership and his instrumental work in the department's cadre review. During the ceremony, speakers also noted that Chishi is part of a cohort of thirteen officers who joined the department in the early 1990s and are now approaching their own retirements.
