Kohima: The Nagaland Skill and Entrepreneurship Development Mission, or NSEDM, finalized a deal with Saint-Gobain India Private Limited on August 21. Both parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding to boost local job prospects. This partnership focuses on training youth for careers as false ceiling and drywall technicians. It aims to modernize construction techniques throughout the state.
The agreement clears the path for a three-month training program certified by the National Skill Development Corporation. Saint-Gobain will build a dedicated training laboratory and a display lab to handle the instruction. Company representatives Dr. Dharmik Vaishnav and Emmanuel Vijay Kumar G. attended the exchange to discuss technical support and future operations. This site marks the first facility Saint-Gobain has opened in the North Eastern Region.
Vineet Kumar, the Additional Secretary and Project Manager for NSEDM, pointed to the state's untapped potential. He said, "NSEDM was initiated to strengthen the State's skilling ecosystem and bridge the gap between training and actual employment opportunities."
Training helps keep cash local. It cuts the need to import expensive labor from other regions. NSEDM handles the candidate recruitment while Saint-Gobain manages the technical training, job placement, and entrepreneurship support. The initiative aims to flip the script on local unemployment by linking classroom work directly to site-ready construction skills.
