Kohima: Nagaland officials are under strict orders to aid an investigation into payroll fraud. The state government wants full cooperation with the special investigation team (SIT) currently probing workers who double-dipped on salaries and pensions. The graft involves employees drawing pay from multiple state sources.
The Personnel and Administrative Reforms Department issued a circular on September 3. It demands that all departments handle SIT requests on priority. Officials must provide accurate documents within tight deadlines. The order requires drawing and disbursing officers to manage the collection and authentication of all records. Files must stay secure. Integrity matters.
The government issued a warning to heads of departments regarding the investigation. Any failure to comply or delays in handing over files will face serious scrutiny. "The government said any delay, non-compliance or incomplete submission could adversely affect the investigation process and would be viewed seriously." Leaders must personally guarantee that staff follow these rules to the letter.
