Nagaland Officials Complete Three-Day Natural Farming Training

Kohima: The State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute recently hosted a three-day training program focused on promoting natural farming across the Northeast region. Held from May 28 to 30, 2026, in Dimapur, the event aimed to equip ATMA functionaries with sustainable agricultural practices.

SAMETI director and IETC principal Bodevi Shuya opened the session by advocating for agricultural methods that utilize local resources and eco-friendly inputs. He explained that shifting toward natural farming is vital for restoring soil health, managing water resources, and minimizing the need for expensive chemical fertilizers. These efforts contribute to long-term food security and the production of healthier crops.

Technical sessions featured insights from experts, including Seyievonuo from the Nagaland Directorate of Agriculture, Dr. Bendangla Imsong of KVK Dimapur, Dr. Alika N. Zhimo, and Dr. Virosanuo Solo. The training provided practical experience through demonstrations of organic formulations like Jeevamrut and Beejamrut, led by Piketo Zhimo and Menovikho Keyho.

The program concluded with a formal address from Shuya and the presentation of certificates to all participating functionaries.
