Nagaland Nurses Complete Specialized Palliative Care Training

Kohima: Nurses and psychiatrists finished a three-day palliative care course in Kohima this week. The training wrapped up on June 27 after sessions focused on end-of-life support and pain management. It ended with participants vowing to boost care standards at their home clinics.

The state Directorate of Health and Family Welfare organized the event under the National Programme for Palliative Care. Dr. Imnapokim, the state program officer, led the final session. Trainees received official certificates as the event concluded.

Experts from AIIMS New Delhi, AIIMS Jodhpur, and the Dr. B. Borooah Cancer Institute ran the technical workshops. They taught staff how to handle pain, communicate with families, and provide holistic care. Instructors noted the group’s high energy throughout the three-day stint. The trainers expressed confidence that the "knowledge and skills acquired during the programme would contribute to improving palliative care services across the state."
