Kohima: Nagaland is joining the national push for the 9th Rashtriya Poshan Maah throughout September 2026. The campaign runs under the theme Hamari Anganwadi, Hamari Jimmedari, which means Our Anganwadi, Our Responsibility. Officials aim to sharpen nutrition, maternal health, and early childhood care.
The Department of Social Welfare leads the effort. They are working with the Department of Health and Family Welfare, School Education, Agriculture, Horticulture, NSRLM-RD, AYUSH, and local government bodies. Anganwadi Centres will anchor the work. The state focus centers on five specific priorities: dietary diversity, high protein intake, fresh hot meals, community accountability, and the 10-year milestone of the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana.
Staff will host Poshan Melas, recipe demos, and tasting sessions. They plan to improve transparency through SNP Menu Boards and local Mothers Committees. The campaign also highlights the importance of the first 1,000 days of a child's life. Workers will push early stimulation, responsive caregiving, and formal education tools like Navchetna and Aadharshila.
Specific drives will target maternity benefits to increase enrollment and Direct Benefit Transfers. The state will track progress through the Poshan Tracker while prioritizing high-risk beneficiaries. They want total community buy-in. The Department stated that Poshan Maah 2026 is "not merely a month of awareness" but a call for sustained community action.
The state will mobilize village councils, youth, and parents. Everyone plays a part. They are banking on indigenous knowledge to drive these results.
