Nagaland Completes Massive Nutrition Drive Across 17 Districts

Kohima: Nagaland hit a high mark during the ninth Rashtriya Poshan Maah in 2026. The state logged 25,440 activities across all 17 districts. The campaign operated under the theme Hamari Anganwadi, Hamari Jimmedari. Mokokchung led the state with 3,076 activities. Mon followed with 2,609. Peren, Zunheboto, and Tuensang also cleared the 2,000 threshold.

Eleven districts surpassed 1,000 activities. Wokha, Longleng, Phek, Kohima, Chümoukedima, and Dimapur filled out the list. New districts including Niuland, Shamator, Tseminyu, Noklak, and Meluri joined the push. The Department of Social Welfare spearheaded the effort under POSHAN Abhiyaan. Anganwadi Centres served as the primary hubs for nutrition awareness and early childhood development.

The state recorded 5,679 activities focused on childhood development and education. Community accountability drives accounted for 5,093 sessions. Staff also held 4,903 hot meal demonstrations and 3,799 workshops on dietary diversity. The Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana marked 10 years with 2,106 activities covering enrollment and verification. The remaining 3,860 events included rallies and plantation drives.

Multiple state departments joined the work. Health, School Education, Agriculture, Horticulture, and Rural Development teams participated. Local Village Councils and church leaders provided ground-level support. The State Project Management Unit stated, "efforts would continue throughout the year to ensure that Anganwadi Centres remain active hubs of nutrition, care and learning across Nagaland."

Rashtriya Poshan Maah is a federal initiative under the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development. It launched in 2018. The program now functions under the Mission Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0 framework. Nationwide, the campaign has logged over 150 crore activities to date.
