Kohima: Kiphire officials and community leaders met on October 15, 2026, to tackle the growing threat of bootleg booze. The session took place at the Deputy Commissioner’s office. Deputy Commissioner Temsuwati Longkumer chaired the assembly. He acted under orders from the Secretary of the Excise and Prohibition Department in Kohima, which sent a directive on September 25.
Everyone wants results. The meeting focused on stopping the consumption of dangerous, spurious liquor while enforcing the Nagaland Liquor Total Prohibition Act of 1989. Officials from various government departments, NGO representatives, Gaon Buras, Dobashis, the Pastor Association, Tribal Hohos, Women Hohos, and student leaders packed the room.
The group mapped out strategies for awareness campaigns. They plan to spread the message of total abstinence to protect public health and safety. The DC demanded active support from all sectors. "Calling for collective responsibility, the DC urged all stakeholders to extend cooperation and accord due importance to the matter to ensure effective awareness and prevention measures."
