Kohima: A two-day training session for the Karmayogi Kartavya Karyashala kicked off July 1 at the Administrative Training Institute in Kohima. The Personnel and Administrative Reforms Department of Nagaland runs the show alongside the Capacity Building Commission of India. It is a massive project. The program aims to hardwire a culture of service, or Seva Bhav, into frontline government staff.

V. Shashank Shekhar, the Additional Chief Secretary and Director General of the institute, opened the event. He challenged those in attendance to step up. He told the room that one of the most fundamental responsibilities of government servants is to "serve the most vulnerable sections of society with dedication and empathy."

Forty employees from six departments joined the session. The roster includes the Nagaland Police, Municipal Affairs, SCERT, Social Welfare, Health and Family Welfare, and the State Institute of Rural Development. Experts from RIMS Imphal and the Capacity Building Commission serve as instructors. The training uses a cascading model where national trainers pass skills down to state master trainers, who then push that knowledge out to the front lines.
