Kohima: Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav met with Director General of Police Rupin Sharma at Lok Bhavan today to address the increasing number of sexual assault cases involving women and minor girls in the state. The Governor expressed deep concern over the trend and ordered a comprehensive review of the current law and order situation.
During the meeting, the Governor demanded immediate improvements in policing and investigation standards. He specifically underscored the need for swift, effective and exemplary action against perpetrators to ensure the security of the most vulnerable citizens. The Governor told the police chief that crimes against women and children must be dealt with firmly and that every effort should be made to create a safe and secure environment for all citizens.
Beyond immediate enforcement, the Governor called for stronger preventive measures and improved monitoring systems. He urged the department to prioritize timely support for victims and encouraged greater community participation to help prevent future offences. DGP Rupin Sharma briefed the Governor on current police initiatives and active investigations aimed at enhancing safety across the region.
