Kohima: Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav pushed for national unity at Lok Bhavan in Kohima on November 1. He gathered citizens to mark the State Foundation Days of Andhra Pradesh, Keralam, Punjab, and Tamil Nadu. The event operated under the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat initiative. It highlighted the value of cultural exchange across state lines.

Yadav spoke to the crowd about his vision. "The essence of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat lay in understanding one another, appreciating differences, celebrating shared heritage and strengthening national unity," he said. He praised the specific contributions of each state to the nation. He noted Andhra Pradesh for classical arts and Kuchipudi dance. He cited Keralam for Kathakali and Mohiniyattam traditions. He pointed to Punjab for its legacy of courage and Bhangra. He highlighted Tamil Nadu for its ancient civilization and Carnatic music.

The Governor noted that Nagaland shows unity does not require uniformity. He urged the youth to travel and learn the food and music of other regions. He argued that these interactions kill stereotypes. Speakers from local groups joined the event. Sankar Surada represented Nagaland Telugu Samaj, Shaji K. spoke for the Malayali Samajam, Harjinder Pal Singh Ahluwalia represented the Gurudwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, and Nellayappan B. spoke for Tamil Nadu.
