Kohima: Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) across Nagaland celebrated the release of the 23rd installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme by hosting comprehensive awareness programs. These events, held under the Khet Bachao Abhiyan, aimed to connect local farmers with sustainable agricultural practices and government welfare initiatives.

At KVK Dimapur, over 100 participants gathered to discuss soil health and nutrient management. Dr. Phool Kumari, the Senior Scientist and Head, emphasized that focusing on soil health is essential for long-term agricultural success. Technical experts also provided practical guidance on paddy cultivation, integrated nutrient management, and soil conservation to ensure better yields. The event concluded with the distribution of animal feed and Assam lemon saplings to encourage diversified farming.

Events held in Tseminyu focused on the theme of Direct Support, Stronger Farmers. Dr. Martina Shitiri addressed the importance of natural soil enhancers like Jeevamrit and Beejamrit to preserve the region's fertile land. During the session, she urged the attendees to look toward the future, stating, “She urged farmers to preserve the comparatively healthy soils of the North East for future generations.” Participants also toured local demonstration plots to see these conservation methods in action.

Meanwhile, the ICAR-National Research Centre on Mithun in Medziphema and KVK Zunheboto hosted sessions to explain the broader impacts of flagship government policies. Farmers engaged with scientists on topics ranging from improved crop varieties to livestock management. These gatherings provided a platform for rural communities to ask questions directly to experts, helping them better navigate government schemes designed to boost agricultural productivity and rural income.
