Nagaland Education Department Hosts Leadership Workshop for School Leads

Kohima: The Department of School Education in Nagaland recently hosted a three-day Academic Lead Workshop at the State Council of Educational Research and Training in Kohima. Running from June 17 to 19, the event brought together 73 participants from 17 Lighthouse School Complexes to refine instructional leadership and implement the Annual Curriculum and Pedagogical Plan.

Organizers structured the program to cover essential skills including lesson planning, academic monitoring, and teacher mentorship. Joint Director of School Education Sentinenla explained that the goal is to improve classroom practices through stronger leadership. She stated, "Effective academic leadership is the driving force behind sustainable improvement and would help translate educational policies into classroom practices across schools."

During the opening sessions, SCERT Joint Director Vikedono Sesa emphasized that the Lighthouse initiative focuses on enhancing teaching quality rather than just building facilities. She encouraged attendees to commit to these academic frameworks to ensure consistent learning improvements.

The program concluded with an address from Shashank Pratap Singh, who serves as the Principal Director of School Education and Project Director of NECTAR. He noted that academic success is possible regardless of infrastructure, pointing to high-achieving students from remote regions as proof. He reminded participants that their role in mentoring students is vital to ensure that no child falls behind in the education system.
