Nagaland Disburses Over Rs 254 Crore in ST Scholarships

Kohima: Nagaland's Higher Education Department started sending out Post-Matric Scheduled Tribe scholarship funds for the 2025-26 academic year. Officials moved Rs 25,497.86 lakh on July 22. The money reached 40,791 eligible students. Cash hit accounts through the Aadhaar-enabled Direct Benefit Transfer system.

Students should check their bank balances now. Anyone missing their payment needs to verify that their Aadhaar links correctly to their bank account and that the Direct Benefit Transfer feature is active. The department sent SMS alerts to those whose accounts lack Aadhaar seeding to speed up the process.

Beneficiaries can monitor their payment status through the National Scholarship Portal. The directorate specifically thanked "chief minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio, higher education & tourism minister Temjen Imna Along, the Ministry of Tribal Affairs and the Ministry of Education" for their help in pushing the funds out on time.
