Kohima: The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has granted final approval to divert 3.93 hectares of forest land for a 220 KV transmission line project in Nagaland. This infrastructure will connect Dimapur to Kohima through the Zhadima area.

The affected land is located within the Rangapahar Reserve Forest under the Nagaland Zoological Park Division in the Chumoukedima district. The ministry initially issued a preliminary approval on February 12, 2024. After the state satisfied all required conditions, the final clearance was granted on August 25, 2025.

Officials from the Nagaland Zoological Park Division must now ensure strict compliance with all forest and wildlife regulations. Any potential violations must be reported to the state's Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and the Department of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.

The Nagaland Power Department is authorized to begin work provided they continue to meet statutory obligations, pay all required fees, and follow any relevant court orders. This project marks a significant step toward improving energy transmission between the state's major cities.
