Kohima: The Nagaland Adventure Club hosted the NAC Adventure Trail to Pulie Badze Chahe Ki on October 3. Participants gathered at the Kohima Science College Junction in Jotsoma to traverse the highest motorable road in Nagaland at the base of Mount Japfu. The event functioned as a partnership between the club, the Jotsoma Village Council, and Jotsoma Nature Conservation and Eco Tourism.
Convenor Peter Rutsa clarified that the trek was not a race. There were no prizes. It focused on letting people explore rugged, hard-to-reach terrain alongside experienced guides. Rutsa explained that off-roading carries inherent risks, referencing his own past experiences with a broken vehicle spring and a burst petrol tank. He expects participants to maintain a culture of mutual support.
Toka Tuccumi, the state Joint Director of Tourism, noted the deep link between local identity and the natural environment. He encouraged visitors to practice responsible tourism to protect regional resources. Tuccumi said, "Take memories from nature without taking anything away and to leave only footprints behind."
Jotsoma Nature Conservation and Eco Tourism president Melie Nakhro praised the choice of the Japfu range for the excursion. He described the area as a place of immense history and local pride. Bharat chaired the flag-off ceremony while Rev Kelhuseto Nagi of Calvary Church Phezhu led the invocation. NAC president Burakum Ao delivered the welcome address before Kedo performed a musical number.
