Kohima: The Chizami Students Union is backing the Chakhesang Students Union in the fight to fix the Kohima-Jessami Road. They want the government to finish NH-29 Package-II now. The road is a total mess. Constant delays and crumbling pavement make life hard for everyone who relies on this route for trade, school, or medical help.
This highway acts as a critical lifeline for multiple districts. Poor progress on the project chokes off local mobility and creates an unfair burden for those living nearby. The union slammed the lack of movement on the site in an October 3 statement. It warned that these problems have massive social and economic costs for the region.
The group pledged to stand behind the Chakhesang Students Union as they push for accountability through legal and democratic channels. They labeled these actions a way to "safeguard the welfare, rights and legitimate interests of the people." Officials need to stop dragging their feet. The union wants a clear, time-bound plan to wrap up the project and provide relief to the public.
