Pochury Hoho demands immediate action on stalled NH-29 project

Kohima: The Pochury Hoho issued a sharp rebuke on Wednesday regarding the stalled NH-29 Package-II project. Construction along the Kohima-Jessami Road has crawled to a halt. This delay forces deep hardship on the region. The road acts as the primary lifeline for Phek, Meluri, Kiphire, and Shamator as they connect to the state capital.

Commuters suffer every day. Poor road conditions hike travel costs and trap patients and students. Trade and essential services face massive disruptions. The tribal body backed the Chakhesang Public Organisation and their recent Public Interest Litigation filed at the Gauhati High Court, Kohima Bench.

Pressure is mounting on the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd and the contractor, Ratna Infrastructure Projects Pvt Ltd. The Naga state government must also step up. The group demanded strict transparency and accountability for the project. Reliable roads fuel healthcare, education, and tourism. The current wait stalls regional growth.

Officials must move now. The Hoho stated, "The people have waited long enough and deserve a safe, dependable and all-weather highway that will promote sustainable development and improve the quality of life across the region." They expect immediate, time-bound construction to finish the work without more excuses.
