Kohima: A surge of condemnation hit Nagaland following a suspected IED blast on July 13. The explosion hit an Assam Rifles convoy in Chümoukedima district. One soldier died. Five others sustained injuries in the attack. The Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation, Naga Hoho, the Naga Tribal Union Chümoukedima Town, and the Confederation of Nagaland Chamber of Commerce and Industry issued statements decrying the violence.
Naga Hoho president Sulanthung Lotha joined the chorus of outrage. He stated that there is no place for those responsible for such acts in a civilized society. The Naga Tribal Union Chümoukedima Town, led by president I Nungsang Jamir and general secretary Amen Kuotsu, labeled the detonation a cowardly and heinous assault on public safety. The CNCCI echoed these sentiments, noting that the act threatens the stability residents have fought to build.
