Itanagar: Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda toured the flash flood and cloudburst-hit Keyi Panyor district on August 6 to survey the devastation. The recent disaster left five people dead and several others injured across the region. Nadda assessed the damage firsthand and met with families who lost property and loved ones. The minister emphasized that the federal government remains fully committed to the state.
He held a high-level review meeting in Itanagar with Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, and various state ministers, MLAs, and administrative officers. He ordered all departments to ramp up healthcare and relief operations. The central government will coordinate with state authorities to provide financial aid and reconstruction resources.
The region remains scarred by extreme weather. In June, a separate flood struck the NEEPCO colony at Possa. Mud and debris from the Possa River demolished or damaged 15 to 18 semi-permanent homes and infrastructure. Landslides severed critical road links, forcing local crews to clear massive boulders and mud to reopen highways. Nadda issued a clear message regarding the path forward for the victims. "No stone will be left unturned in ensuring that relief and rehabilitation measures reach every affected family," Nadda said.
