Kohima: The Medziphema Gorkha Mahila Samity (MGMS) is demanding immediate legal action following the sexual assault of a nine-year-old girl. The attack occurred on July 7, 2026. Police identified the suspect as Paominlun Gangte. The organization is now pressing authorities to prosecute the case under the POCSO Act.
MGMS issued a firm statement regarding the incident. "The Samity further urged all right-thinking citizens, ward leaders, civil societies and organisations to unite against such crimes and violence to ensure a safe environment for children."
The group is standing with the victim. They prayed for her speedy recovery and promised the family unwavering support as they seek justice. Leaders called on the community to take a stand against violence involving minors.
