Manipur Readies Sangai Ethnic Park for World Tourism Day

Imphal: Manipur authorities scrubbed the Sangai Ethnic Park clean this Saturday. The site in Moirang Khunou, Bishnupur district, is the main hub for the upcoming World Tourism Day 2026. The Directorate of Tourism and the Tourism Corporation of Manipur Limited teamed up to prep the grounds.

Tourism Secretary Namoijam Kheda Varta Singh led the labor alongside Director Khumanthem Diana Devi, Additional Director Salam Padmapati, and Senior Finance Officer Khuraijam Amarjit. They brought in help from the Local Committee for Maintenance of Sangai Ethnic Park and the volunteer group For Better Kangleipak. Personnel from the Manipur Tourism Department and Bishnupur Police rounded out the crew.

The event falls under the global theme, "Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to Redesign Tourism." Officials want to marry the park's traditional architecture, which honors Manipur's 34 recognized ethnic communities, with new tech-driven travel methods. The department credited the local teams for keeping the site ready for the visitors to come.
