Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh launched a new digital portal for the Loktak Development Authority on Tuesday, September 15. The event took place at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat in Imphal. Singh also released the official Waterbird Census Report, titled Loktak Ramsar 2026.
The website provides public access to information regarding conservation efforts, restoration projects, and general LDA activities. Officials intend for the site to increase transparency and encourage local participation in managing the region's largest freshwater lake. The census report outlines specific data on waterbird diversity and population counts to help guide future habitat management.
"It was an honour to launch the official website of the Loktak Development Authority (LDA) and release the Waterbird Census Report at my Secretariat today," Singh said in a statement. He noted that the move strengthens digital outreach regarding the lake's ecosystem.
Several officials attended the launch, including Art and Culture Minister Kh. Loken Singh and Additional Chief Secretary Anurag Bajpai. Other attendees included MLAs Th. Shanti Singh, K. Robindro Singh, Y. Radheshyam, and I. Nalini Devi. LDA Chairman A.K. Sinha and Project Director H. Balkrisna Singh were also present to oversee the transition to the new platform.
