Imphal: Dhanamanjuri University in Imphal signed a memorandum of understanding with Miranda House of the University of Delhi on July 24. The deal went down at the Miranda House campus. Officials from both schools attended the event, alongside representatives from the Manipur government. DMU Vice-Chancellor and Registrar joined the ceremony with Miranda House Principal Bijayalaxmi Nanda and Botany faculty member Geetanjali Elangbam.
Both schools also exchanged a letter of intent to push research in botany, environmental studies, and sustainability. They plan to share resources and hold specialized workshops. The deal sets up a path for joint academic programs, faculty swaps, and student mobility between the two regions. It aims to bridge the distance between Imphal and the national capital. The goal is to grow the academic footprint of the Manipur institution.
DMU expects this to spark new innovation among staff and students. "The collaboration will facilitate joint field studies, resource sharing and specialised workshops," according to the official project outline. The Manipur Department of Higher and Technical Education established DMU under the 2017 Dhanamanjuri University Act. It officially opened on April 6, 2018, via the Manipur Gazette. The university falls under the national RUSA scheme.
