Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh visited Kanto Sabal village on July 15 to address the aftermath of a recent arson attack. The village, located in the Imphal West district within the Sekmai Assembly constituency, saw six homes destroyed. The Chief Minister surveyed the reconstruction efforts and met with local groups, including the Kanto Sabal Village Development Committee, community clubs, and Meira Paibis.
These residents delivered a memorandum detailing urgent security concerns. They want better protection and unrestricted movement for all locals. Khemchand promised to review these demands alongside security agencies and government departments. He remains focused on stabilization. The state government is pushing to clear transit routes.
During his visit, Khemchand stated the government "is making every possible effort to ensure free movement for all communities along the national highways passing through the State." He argued that infrastructure, education, and healthcare cannot grow without a stable, peaceful environment. He urged all communities to build mutual trust and cooperate for the sake of the state.
Sekmai MLA H Dingo Singh joined the visit. He acknowledged the ongoing ethnic conflict but noted the administration is taking active steps toward peace. Both leaders encouraged calm, asking residents to work together. Khemchand reiterated that his primary goal is to ensure public safety and restore normalcy for every citizen.
